Obituary of Frances Clemmons Cain

Frances Clemmons Cain, Greenhill, Alabama went home to Jesus on January 10, 2025, at the age of 87. She attended Rogers High School, spent her working years at Slant & Slant/M- Fine, and Dollar General. She was a member of Greenhill First Baptist. Her most precious accomplishments were receiving Jesus Christ as her Savior, being a wonderful wife and mother. As a young Frances Gist she married Maurice Clemmons. They established their home and family, remaining married for 30 years, until his death in 1987. Later, she became the wife of Harvey Cain to whom she enjoyed life with for 29 years, until his death in 2020. In addition to her two loving sons and their families, Frances was awarded with additional love from Harvey’s four children and their families.
Frances has left a life-time of memories to her survivors, sons, Ernie Clemmons and wife Patricia, Kevin Clemmons and wife Tammy; her grandchildren, Bethany Butler (Jason), Marissa Norton (Casey), Cortney Davis (Nathan), Seth Clemmons (Kristen), Erin Gatlin (Tanner); great-grandchildren, Macie & Hagen Butler, Marlee Burden & Cade Norton, Alona, Hallie, & Blakely Davis, Cam & Reagan Clemmons; Bonus-children, Ricky Cain (Suzanne), Randy Cain (Barbie), Pam White, Sheila Voss; grandson Cody Martin (Lacey); Brother, Steve Gist, along with numerous cousins, nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Gladys & Leonard Gist; sisters, Movaline Young, Lucille Gladney & Debbie Phillips; brother, Ozell Gist; and grandson Nathan Martin
A memorial life celebration will be held at Greenhill Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. and go until 1:00 P.M. and then the service will follow at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Gregg Woodard officiating. Pallbearers will be Seth Clemmons, Hagen Butler, Cade Norton, Jason Butler, Nathan Davis, Casey Norton, and Tanner Gatlin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cam Clemmons and Harvey Cain’s children. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery immediately following the service.
A special thank you to Kendall DeStafino at SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice of Decatur for your special care and attention to our Mother, also the 2nd floor staff at Falkville Health Care and all who have provided encouraging cards and visits during these final years of her life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Missions fund at Greenhill Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
