The books of Leviticus and Mark teach us God’s call for Christians to love their neighbors as themselves.
Mrs. Frances, who I have only ever known as Mrs. Harvey, was the best neighbor a kid could have. She was always quick to share a friendly wave, no matter the time or pace of day. She and Mr. Harvey patiently tossed back every frisbee or ball my brother or I lost to their yard. Even more kind, she often invited me over to share tea, peppermints, candies, and stories galore—paying our 57 year age gap no mind.
Mrs. Harvey hasn’t been my physical neighbor for almost two decades, and yet, when I think of the sweetest neighbor I’ve ever had, her friendly face comes to mind. Now when I remember her, I can picture her pouring two cups of tea for an afternoon chat, Jesus in one chair and Mrs. Frances in another.
