Bama Lela Thompson, 85, of Killen, passed away August 17, 2010, at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was a housewife, a nurse's aide, and worked at Reynolds. She was a member of the North Carolina Church of Christ.
She is survived by: Her brother, Edmond Heathcoat; grandchild Erin Thompson Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by:
Parents: Florence Adella and Robert "Bob" Heathcoat
Son: Jackie Thompson
Husbands: Johnny Thompson and Fred Parker
Brothers: Fred, Leonard, Charlie, and Lewis Heathcoat
Sisters: Esther Jones, Irene Jones, and Flossie Gautney
Visitation will be Thursday, August 19, 2010 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Greenhill Funeral Home. The service will be held following this at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Don Williams and Bro. Leon Cole officiating. Burial will be in North Carolina Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gary Ross, Wayne Henson, Travis Smith, Ricky Michael, Terry Holden, and Harrison Clemmons. Honorary Pallbearer will be Floyd Jones.
The family would like to thank special caregivers : Her niece, Tammy Smith and her Great-Niece Harlie Smith; also Pat Smith, Sue Henson, Dr. Gapitus, the hospice nurses Norma and Cynthia, and all the staff at Mitchell Hollingsworth.
A beautiful soul is now at peace and is with God. Your love will live on in our hearts forever. We love you and will miss you Aunt Bama.
