Obituary of Gaynell Britt

Gaynell Johnson Britt moved to a new home and embarked on a new adventure on December 7, 2009. She was joyfully received there by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and her mother and father, Ian and Bertie Johnson. Gaynell was born on May 12, 1930 .She received new life in July 1940 when she chose Jesus Christ as her Savior. In Aug 1940, she was baptized in water to signify her rebirth. After graduating from college, she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She later became a school principal and then county supervisor of elementary education. She retired from the education system and changed her focus to elder care by becoming a nursing home administrator where she served until her retirement in 1999. After retirement she enjoyed to ministering to seniors, both in church and in nursing homes. She loved serving the Lord by serving the poor and needy. She left behind 1 daughter, Constance Walker Sheffield; 2 grand-daughters, Lauren Sheffield and Jennifer Presley; 2 grandsons, Jacob Eubanks and Jeremy Eubanks; 2 great grand-children, Hannah and Micah Presley; 1 sister, Diane Powers; 3 nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members and friends. All services will be held in Otis, Louisiana. Greenhill Funeral Home handled all local arrangements.
