Obituary of Troy Creasey

Troy Lee Creasey, 72, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, after a long struggle with cancer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Atlas Church of Christ from 10:00 A.M. - 12:15 P.M., with a graveside service to follow at 1:00 P.M. at Shiloh Church of Christ Cemetary, Miles Stutts officiating. Pallbearers will be Mickey Coker, Paul Richardson, Joe Whit Evans, Darrell Byrd, Phillip Allen, Jonathan Allen, Anthony Williams, and Tyler Creasey. Honorary pallbearers will be Gabriel Brown, Robert Kobeck, and Gregory Creasey. He was born on September 17, 1943 in Florence, AL, and spent most of his life in the area. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1963 - 1967 and eventually retired from Reynold's Metals Company and Wise in 2004. He was baptized as a member of Atlas Church of Christ in Greenhill, AL. He was an avid fisherman, lover of NASCAR, loyal University of Alabama fan, and ceaseless champion of his children. He will forever be loved and cherished by his 3 children: Scott Creasey of Knoxville, TN, Pamela Brown of Smyrna, TN and Joy McArthur of Smyrna, TN. He is also survived by 4 siblings: Ethel Richardson, Virginia Walden, Raymond Creasey and Helen Jeffrey; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion and best friend, Sharon Evans. Troy was a man who always believed he could be better no matter how good he was, whether it was a better father, a better brother, a better friend, or a better man. He gave without end, never expecting anything in return, never boasting about what he gave, and anyone who met him was a benefactor of his generosity and kindness. He will be remembered with a gentle smile and an easy laugh. It is in this spirit that his children would ask you to honor him by doing a random act of kindness in his name. Throughout his battle with cancer, Troy was touched by watching children so much smaller than he undergo the same treatments and tests at Vanderbilt. He would remind us "if they can do it, I can," and we were all strengthened by his resolve. In lieu of flowers and in honor of our dad and these children, we would love for you to make a contribution to St. Jude Children's Hospital. The family would like to thank Hospice of North Alabama and all of the family and friends who assisted during his time of need. When words would escape him, Troy could often be heard saying "ain't this a site." We can imagine him now as he first encounters all of the wonders of Heaven saying it again, over and over: "Ain't this a site. Ain't this a site." Greenhill Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
