Obituary of Doyce Kretzer

Clenon Doyce Kretzer, 83, of Killen, passed away February 12, 2014, at ECM Hospital in Florence. He was retired from Reynolds as an aluminum worker and was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include: Wife: Willa Mae Garner Kretzer Daughters: Judy Trousdale (Doug) - Florence; Susan McDaniel (Jerry) - Florence; and Glenda Vinson (Anthony) - Killen Brother: Charles Kretzer - Killen Sister: Helen Dean Grandchildren: Jason McDaniel, Jeremy McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel, Caroline Vinson, Gatlan Vinson, Kevin Trousdale, and April Powers. (8) Great Grandchildren Preceded in death by: Parents: Fred and Edna Kretzer Brothers: Bill Kretzer, Gilbert Kretzer, and Royce Kretzer Sisters: Evalene Pettus and Louise Wilson Infant Grandson: Tony Vinson Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 13, from 5:00-8:00pm at the Killen Church of Christ. The funeral service will be Friday at 12:00 noon at the church with Stan Dean, Charles Kretzer, and Danny Pettus officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews: Jason McDaniel, Jeremy McDaniel, Jordan McDaniel, Gatlan Vinson, Kevin Trousdale, and L. Don Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Senior Men's Class at Killen Church of Christ. Mr. Kretzer loved his God first, his family second, and next his church family. He was active in his church and taught the men's class over 40 years at the Killen Church of Christ, where he also served as a deacon. He lived his life as an example that his family and others could see God. He also loved to laugh and make others feel good about themselves. He claimed the promise in Philippians 4:13, that he could do all things through Christ that strengthened him. Today his family feels that a prince and a great man has fallen, II Samuel 3:38. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Mann for his kindness shown to our dear Dad. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
