Obituary of Larry Hardeman

Larry Dean Hardeman, 78, of Killen, AL, passed away March 21, 2013 after an extended illness. Larry was born in a small community called Puncheon in Giles County, TN. He spent his childhood days fishing and swimming on the banks of Sugar Creek, where he got the nickname "Tooter".
Mr. Hardeman went to Puncheon School before the family moved to Florence, AL where he then attended Brandon School. In 1950 the family moved to the Greenhill community where he attended Rogers High School. In his junior year he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves and served for 6 years.
Larry was a member of the Antioch Church of Christ. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Company where he was employed as a Carpenter/Forklift Operator in the Box Shop for 42 years. He was also Police Chief for 12 years for the town of Lexington, AL and was the former owner of Hardeman's Spur Station at the corner of Highway 101 and 64 in Lexington, AL. In his later years, Larry worked part-time for Foodland in Killen, AL and he also enjoyed farming.

Sons: Phillip Dean Hardeman and Larry Chris Hardeman and wife Danonda
Daughters: Amy Suzanne Hardeman and Jill Lanee Eldridge and husband Douglas
Son-in-law: Michael Hollandsworth
Sister: Glenda Joyce Owens and husband Bill
Grandchildren: Alisha Crunk (Chad), Amanda Irons (Brad), Drew and Brittney Hardeman, Paige and Josh Eldridge
Great-grandchildren: Caleb and Elizabeth Crunk and Braylee Irons
Nephews: Stanley and Wesley Owens
Mr. Hardeman was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey Wesley and Elise Lucille Hardeman; and by his daughter Vickie Jane Hollandsworth.
Visitation for Mr. Hardeman will be Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Antioch Church of Christ with Bro. Bill Brazier and Josh Eldridge officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12-1:00 P.M. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Hollandsworth, Chad Crunk, Brad Irons, Josh Eldridge, Drew Hardeman, and Rocky Southern.
