James Rayburn Scott, 88, of Lexington, passed away June 22, 2023, at his residence. He was retired from Reynolds Metal Company as a sheet metal finisher, a member of North Carolina Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Army National Guard. Survivors include: Wife of 61 years: Betty Hammond Scott Son: Gerald Scott (Amy) Daughter: Janet Davis (Kevin) Brother: Mitchell Scott Sister: Shelby Scott Rutledge Granddaughter: Andrea White (Nick) Honorary grandchildren: Lily Baker & Whitlee Baker Furbaby: Daisy Preceded in death by: Parents: Willie Elvis Scott & Irene Elizabeth McDonald Scott Brothers: an infant twin brother, Clyde Scott, Noel Scott & Bobby Joe Scott Sisters: Willie Ruth Scott & Barbara Scott Stokes Visitation will be on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00pm, at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at 2:00pm, in the funeral home chapel, with Tommy Ruple officiating. Burial will be at Tabernacle Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Tony Stokes, Eric Scott, Barry Scott, Alex Scott, Shawn Smith & Bubba Hankins The family would like to say a special thanks to his caregivers: Mindy Goodson, Chris Inman & Jon Beavers, Dr. Lyman Mitchell & nurse practitioner Pam Hill.
