All of my memories are my fondest memory of Joel. One in particular was when he came down to reroof the top of our house one year and while he was tearing off the old shingles he discovered a snake curled up in one of the eaves of the house. I’ve never seen a man move that fast to get off a ladder but I sure couldn’t blame him. Danny and I always, always enjoyed being around Joel especially when we would see him at Thanksgiving and Christmas at mom and dads. To his family, I just want you to know how sorry we are for your loss and our prayers are with you all especially now and always. To Joel I can only say, “Go rest high on that mountain friend and nephew!”

Q: What will you never forget about Joel? A: Joel was always “wide open” in whatever he chose to do! My best memories of him were endorsed by that fabulous and wide open smile! If you were a friend of Joel’s, “You were his friend”! I never knew him to pretend to be anyone’s friend! I always cared about Joel! I am saddened by his death and my deepest condolences are contributed to his family. The world is a better place simply by his presence here! I always loved “Mr. Carl” and his family! Rest in peace Joel.

Joel was a good friend and a good neighbor and a good man. Joel has always stopped what he was doing no matter how important to help me if I needed it and I would do the same for him. We have had several heart to heart and man to man talks over the last few years. He knew I was a good enough friend that he could open up to me. I will certainly miss him running up and down beartown road for the last 25 years. My prayers is with the family.
