Mrs. Killen was my bus driver starting around 1980. She was so sweet and so kind! She always had a smile on her face every morning when she picked me up! I was the first kid on and last one off everyday. One day in particular I remember there was an unsavory individual riding close behind us and honking his horn trying to get around her. When she stopped to let me off she knew I was scared and she looked at me and said, “You go straight in that house and lock the door behind you. I’ll wait until I know you’re inside. You’ll be okay.” And she did. I could hear that man yelling for her to go on as I ran to the house. Mrs. Killen knew I was home alone for a little while in the afternoons so she wanted to be sure I made it safely in the house. She was my protector that day!
Family please except my sincere condolences. I know she will be greatly missed by many. I am so thankful to have known such a sweet soul as Mrs. Killen.
