Obituary of John Daniel Black
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Daniel Black, 76, passed from this life of February 21, 2020. He was a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He was born November 3, 1943 and lived his life in Lauderdale County, AL. He was an original in every sense of the word.
He was the finder and keeper of our heritage, the glue that held us together and made us know and love where we came from.
He was a painter for 50 years. He loved making things look better. His last employment was Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club.
If you knew him, you will know that my words pale in comparison to his huge spirit.
He leaves his treasured family- wife Wanda Clemmons Black, son John Darby Black (Kathy) of Tupelo, MS, daughter Shawna Talbot of Florence, AL, grandchildren Haley Black of Tupelo, Mitchell Talbot and Mahlon Talbot of Florence, and great-grandson John Bentley Gaskin of Tupelo. He was “Uncle Grandpa” to our Ava Clemmons and “Papa” to Maria Bretherick.
He leaves chosen grandchildren Jake and Meghan Donnan, and great-grandchildren Mary Clemmons Donnan, Eleanor Donnan, and Canaan Donnan of Florence.
He is survived by brothers Floyd Black and Jacob Black of Killen, sisters Kathy Black of Decatur, AL and Amy Newton of Florence, AL.
He was preceded in death by parents Jake and Elizabeth Black, sisters Mary Nell Stamps and Shirley Trousdale and infant sister Beth Ann Black, and brothers Jimmy Black and Revel Black.
