Obituary of Hazel Behel
Hazel Johns Behel, 93, of Florence, AL., passed away on May 21, 2019. She was born May 25, 1925 in Lauderdale County Alabama . She was a homemaker and a member of Lone Cedar Church of Christ. Mrs. Behel worked and retired from Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home after 16 plus years. Mrs. Behel was a special lady. She loved working in her flowers and making people happy. She is remembered for her kindness, generosity, and especially her cooking (coconut cake, graham cracker cake, chicken and dumplings, and turnip greens). She was loved by many.
Survivors include three children: Reeder Donald Behel (Glenda); Ronnie Paul Behel (Linda); and Patricia (Patty) Gail Nagle (Roy), and her sister, Jeanette Clemmons (R.C.), and her brother-in-law, Clymoth Waddell. She had 9 grandchildren: Kevin Behel, Karla Gray (Barry), Kellie Balentine (Kirk), Jason Behel, Jared Behel (Tiffany), Whitney Petty (Chris), Kyle Moody, Tanner Moody (Savanna), and Patrick Nagle. She had 13 great grandchildren (Colby and Caden Behel), (Benton and Sadie Gray), (Walker and Cooper Balentine), (Creed and Evie Behel); (Brodie Donaldson, Emory Floyd, Carson and Weston Petty), and (Stetson Moody) along with several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Behel was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Reeder Behel; parents, Henry Lee and Lillian Johns; brother, H. L. Johns, Jr.; and sisters, Martha Ann Campbell and Bonnie Rogers Waddell.
Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Greenhill Funeral Home. The body will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday at Lone Cedar Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Brother Tim Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Behel, Jason Behel, Jared Behel, Kyle Moody, Tanner Moody, and Joe Dickerson.
