Diane was one of the most special people I ever met in my life. She was Always so Fun and enjoyable to be around. She loved life and showed it! She lived life to the fullest, and helped others to enjoy their daily lives. I was her replacement at the Carlsbad, New Mexico Department of Defense, Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP Site); when she transferred to the National Park Service, Carlsbad Caverns National Park. I came to realize, from WIPP, without ever meeting Diane yet, what a special and amazing person she was! She was missed so much at WIPP, and I could not begin to fill her shoes with my shy, quiet nature. I was such an opposite of her outgoing, friendly, fun personality. Then I got on at Carlsbad Caverns National Park and got to meet her, and saw what a Wonderful person she was, and understood how irreplaceable she was at WIPP! She became a wonderful friend for me while at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. Someone as special as Diane, should have lived to be 100 + due to all the joy and enrichment that she brought to other people's lives. My heart goes out to her family for their devastating loss of a one of a kind, immensely special lady! Lorie Hardin Van Zandt - Las Cruces, New Mexico

For 7-1/2 years Dianne served as my Administrative Assistant at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. While the park faced a variety of challenging issues during that time, I could always count on Dianne to keep me in good humor and to efficiently and effectively do her job. She even volunteered to become an instructor for our “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” training and did a great job of improving staff performance and morale. She was not only an excellent secretary but also a wonderful person. I expect she is “up there” training the angels how to do their jobs right now.

Diane was a special part of the Carlsbad Caverns family. I don’t think I ever saw her with a frown or heard an unpleasant word from her. That was an achievement because that park had its share of challenges at the time. I share my condolences with everyone who knew Diane. I’ll always remember her and what she did to make Carlsbad Caverns a better place to work and live.
