Obituary of Elois McMurtrey Cottles

Mildred Elois McMurtrey Thornton Cottles, 82, of Killen, passed away April 25, 2018, at her residence.  She was a retired machine operator for M. Fine Company, and a member of North Carolina Church of Christ.

                Survivors include:

                                Husband:          Vertis Cottles – Killen

                                Son:                  William (Buck) Thornton and wife Sherry – Lexington

                                Step-Children:  Chris Cottles

                                                          Joey Cottles

                                Grandchild:       Nick Thornton and Julie

                Preceded in death by:

                                First husband:Oscar Thornton

                                Parents:   Curtis Newton McMurtrey and Nancy Ella Thigpen McMurtrey

                                Step-daughter:  Regina Cottles

                                (9) Siblings

Visitation will be Friday, April 27, from 10:00-1:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 1:00pm with Eric Barnett officiating.  Burial will follow in North Carolina Church of Christ Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Mike Weems, Johnny Weems, Eldridge Cottles, Roger Burbank, Wade McMurtrey, and Terry McMurtrey.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Roy Davis and Dennis Holden.

Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
