Obituary of Ford Peden

Ford Peden, 86, of Florence, AL, passed away November 20, 2011 of an extended illness. He was a former employee of A & P Grocery (where he met his wife of 56 years, Etta) and was an insurance salesman for Southern Life & Health Insurance Co. from 1959 - 1987. He was an Elder, Teacher and Song Leader at Lone Cedar Church of Christ and a founding board member of the North Alabama Christian Children's Home. He also enjoyed growing a garden and sharing the vegetables with friends. Survivors include: Sons: Paul Peden (Linda) and Harry Peden (Melissa) Daughters: Ann Parrish (Gordon), Judy Peden, and Connie Burns (Dan) Daughter-in-law: Brenda Peden Brothers: Grady Peden and Douglas Peden Sisters: Billie Mae McGee and Nellie Hunter Grandchildren: Angie Terry (Andy), Jennifer Peden, Andrea and Alex Parrish, Kyle Burns, and Tori Peden Great-grandchildren: Carson and Andrew Terry He was preceded in death by: Parents: George and Georgia Clemmons Peden Wife: Etta Mae Austin Peden Son: Danny Peden Sister: Ruth Owen Visitation will be Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from 5:30-9:00 P.M. at Lone Cedar Church of Christ. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 23 at 1:00 P.M. at the church with Bro. Tim Grigsby officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Cedar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Peden, Kyle Burns, Alex Parrish, Dan Burns, Gordon Parrish, Doyle Jenkins, Carson Terry, and Andrew Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Bretherick, Grady Peden, Douglas Peden, Charles Cabler, and the Elders and Deacons of Lone Cedar Church of Christ. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dennis Bretherick for his special friendship and being a run-around buddy to Dad over the years, and also to all his friends at Lone Cedar Church of Christ.
