Obituary of Ruby Evers

On October 8, 2011, Mrs. Ruby May Collier Evers departed this world to be with her Lord after a courageous 15 year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Mrs. Evers was born on May 28, 1927 in St. Joseph, TN and graduated Loretto High School in 1945. She then went to business school for one year and started working in the Accounting and Payroll Departments of the Tennessee Valley Authority in Muscle Shoals, AL in 1946. In 1955, she married Mr. Oscar B. Evers, Jr. from Loretto, TN. Mrs. Evers was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, antique collecting and being a wonderful grandmother to her 3 grandchildren. Mrs. Evers was preceded in death by her parents, Meredith Whitman Collier and Willie Jeanette Hicks; brother Edmund; and sisters Faye and Beulah. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 56 years Mr. Oscar B. Evers; son Dr. Mark Evers and wife Karen of Lexington, KY; daughter Dr. Ann Evers Smith and husband Dr. Gary Smith of Nashville, TN; and three grandchildren Lauren, Ben and Clem. Visitation for Mrs. Evers will be Monday, October 10, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Greenhill Funeral Home with a Prayer service at 7:00 P.M. The funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Loretto Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Father Lukas Arulappa and Deacon Sam Beckman will be officiating.
